Solar Eclipse Cruise at Sea – Spain 2026 (3-Hour Experience)

3 hours

Easy

Experience the 12 August 2026 Solar Eclipse from the sea on a 3-hour cruise departing from Cartagena, Lo Pagán or Torrevieja. Enjoy open-horizon views, multilingual eclipse guidance, a welcome pack, onboard bar service, and a unique atmosphere as we posit

Experience the 2026 Solar Eclipse from the open sea with Just Stargaze on a 3-hour cruise departing from Cartagena, Lo Pagán or Torrevieja. Unlike watching from land, where buildings and terrain can block the view, the sea offers a completely unobstructed horizon — ensuring the best possible perspective for this rare astronomical event.

After boarding at your chosen port, you’ll receive a welcome pack and certified eclipse glasses, followed by a safety briefing. As we sail offshore, expert guides will provide multilingual explanations of the eclipse phases so you understand what is happening in the sky and why this event is so unique.

During the eclipse, and at the phase of maximum coverage from these locations (reaching 99% coverage of the Sun), the captain may reduce engine noise and onboard lighting — subject to safety and maritime regulations — to enhance the viewing atmosphere. An onboard bar will be available throughout the cruise with drinks available for purchase.

As the experience transitions toward sunset, you can enjoy beautiful horizon views on our return to port. This cruise blends science, serenity, and the natural wonder of the eclipse into a peaceful and memorable experience.

This is a fixed-date event on 12 August 2026 with limited capacity. Due to the nature of astronomical phenomena, cloud cover or visibility issues do not qualify for refunds; in case of cancellation by the organizer, credit terms per the Terms & Conditions apply.

This Solar Eclipse cruise is designed to offer a unique viewing experience from the open sea. Being offshore allows for unobstructed horizon views and a natural maritime atmosphere that cannot be replicated on land. Boat capacity has been intentionally reduced from regular operating limits to ensure that, during maximum eclipse coverage, all passengers have clear viewing space and comfort on board.

Throughout the cruise, guests may relocate on board to enjoy different perspectives. Any movement must be done safely and in accordance with crew instructions. General maritime safety rules apply at all times.

To fully enjoy the experience, guests are advised to:

    • Bring sun protection (hat/head cover and UV cream)
    • Wear comfortable footwear suitable for a boat environment

    For environmental and safety reasons:

    • Jumping into the water is strictly prohibited
    • Throwing objects or trash into the sea is strictly prohibited

    Eclipse Viewing & Optical Safety

    • Looking at the sun is permitted only with the certified eclipse glasses provided onboard.
    • The provided solar eclipse glasses must not be used in combination with binoculars or other optical devices.
    • Telescopes are not allowed on board.
    • Guests bringing their own binoculars do so at their own responsibility.
    • If binoculars are used for solar observation, appropriate certified solar filters must be correctly applied by the guest. Solar Eclipse Glasses do not constitute for filters for optical devices!
    • Astronomy Tours S. COOP is not responsible for private optical equipment brought onboard.
    • Insurance coverage does not extend to damage or injury resulting from private binocular or optical device use.

    Important: Please Arrive Early

We strongly advise all guests to arrive at their selected departure port well in advance — ideally even several hours before boarding time.

12 August 2026 is an exceptional astronomical event expected to generate significant traffic across the region. During peak summer season, road congestion, limited parking availability, and potential access restrictions to port areas may occur. Authorities may temporarily block or limit vehicle access near marinas and waterfront zones for safety and crowd management reasons.

To avoid stress or the risk of missing the departure, we highly recommend planning an early arrival. Each departure port area (Cartagena, Lo Pagán and Torrevieja) offers a wide selection of excellent bars, cafés and restaurants, making early arrival both comfortable and enjoyable.

The Astronomy Tours Team will keep all participants informed as the event approaches. If advance parking ticket options become available, we will offer them. If special access passes are obtained from local authorities to facilitate smoother entry to port areas, we will ensure eligible guests receive them.

This is an unprecedented event, and our team will work until the very last day to make sure every possible logistical measure is taken.

Nevertheless — please plan to arrive early.

    Continue the Astronomy Experience

On the evening of 12 August, the Perseid meteor shower will also be active (peak night). While this is not part of the cruise program and no nighttime activities are included in this event, guests may wish to continue their astronomy experience independently after sunset.

If weather conditions permit, find a safe and dark location away from artificial lights to observe potential meteors later that night.

Separate Perseid Meteor Shower experiences at Finca Astronómica are available for booking (nights between the 7th and 15th of August; subject to availability). These events are independent from the Solar Eclipse cruise and require a separate reservation.
